Cala en Porter is with no doubt one of the best beaches in the south of Menorca, has a lot of services and it’s perfect for all ages.
Cala en Porter is located in the area of Alaior, in the south of Menorca, between Cala Binidali and Son Bou. It’s an awesome beach to go with children as it offers a lot of services and high security. It has a lifeguard and the coast is limited by some buoys that avoid boats get close to the beach.
It’s surrounded by high cliffs, generating a beautiful bay that has the beach at the end, so we are gonna be protected from North strong winds. However, if blows south winds, maybe we should think of going to another beach, as there’s gonna be big waves. In that case, beaches in the north are the best option.
The beach measures 200 meters long, but it’s very wide, surpassing the 50 meters wide in some areas. It is not very deep, and the sea is transparent like other beaches in Menorca.
Cala en Porter beach offers showers, bathrooms, hammocks renting and children park just in front of the beach in order the youngest of the family can play. Above the cliffs, there’s the urbanization of Cala en Porter, which even has more services, which will make us feel so comfortable.
You will be able to go to Cala en Porter easily by car or motorbike, although if we don’t have it, we can take the public bus.
It’s easy to arrive at Cala en Porter from any area of Menorca, as it’s very well indicated, mainly once we are close to Alaior.
To do it, normally we should take the ME-1 road, the main road of Menorca which goes from Mahon to Ciutadella. Once we are near Alaior, we should take the deviation to arrive at Cala en Porter, except if we are in Sant Lluis or Mahon, because we can take a shortcut via Sant Climent road (ME-12). If we don’t have a vehicle, we can go easily by taking the bus from Mahón or Alaior. If we are in another place of the Island, we first need to transfer to one of these two. We recommend checking the bus timetable of Cala en Porter.

If we are looking for a more economical option, we can prefer to go to an apartment hotel as Nelva Aparthotel is. It’s very close to Cova d’en Xoroi and 10 minutes away walking from the beach. It offers typical Menorca apartments with some services like a public pool and Wifi.
However, if we are looking for a luxurious option, we can go to Torralbenc Hotel, which is a bit more far from Cala en Porter (3 kilometers away). It’s a rural hotel recommended for couples, which keeps the Menorca old architecture, adapting luxury suites. This will make your visit to Menorca, an awesome experience.
Exactly, like all the rest of the cities and villages of Menorca, Cala en Porter has its festivities, which take place on the third weekend of September.
Cala en Porter festivity is not fully traditional on the Menorca culture, as they started in 1974 while other villages started a lot of years before. Anyway, they celebrate the typical Menorca festivity with Horses, where these try to jump with the horse rider with the animated sound of the Music Band.
