Es Caló blanc, Menorca

Es Caló Blanc is one of the best secret beaches in Menorca. It's in Sant Lluis, in the areas of Binisafuller and Cap d'en Font.

Seemingly the tiniest beach in Menorca. Only 3 square meters. The jumps are famous on this cove; you can do a 5 meters fall from the rocks.

The sea is clear and turquoise. There aren't many beaches in Menorca with these nice colours. You must take a picture of es Caló Blanc!

How to go to Es caló blanc

How to go to Es Caló Blanc is easy. You can go by autobus and car.

  • To go to Es caló blanc by car, from Mahón, you will take the Me-12 road, which starts on the second roundabout from Menorca Airport (Binidalí road). Once in Binidalí, you will go across Binibeca road (Me-10). Once in es caló Blanc, you will see Es Caló Blanc Parking , which can fill about 40 cars, although you will also find parking easily.

The cove has a small ground parking lot, which can fit about 20 cars, is located on the road from Binibeca to Binidalí, on the south coast.

It's easy to recognise. However, in July or August, you will see that parking is quite full since, over time, Es Caló Blanc has become a mandatory stop for many influencers.

It turns out that the cove is Caló Blanc; in Menorca, it is not a cove. It is a beach, the most petite beach in Menorca. There is more sand in width than in length. So it would help if you had in mind that it would be challenging to make a space and place the towel.

The most possible is that you end up in the surroundings, full of rock formations. However, for the sake of your back, try to find the flattest area possible. Once there, open your eyes wide, you will be in front of one of the cleanest and most turquoise waters you have ever seen.

Why is the water so clean?

Several factors influence the purity of the water in es Caló Blanc. First, there is no type of discharge, and in addition, it is a sandy area, which helps the sun reflect on it and give us that idyllic tonality.

Scientifically, apart from the last factors, another has been discovered, the Posidonia meadows. They are vast underwater areas full of oceanic Posidonia, contributing significantly to oxygenating the water.

Given its great environmental importance, Menorca has always tended to protect it. It is preventing trawling boats from sweeping them away. In addition, in summer, with the large influx of vessels, anchoring on them has been prohibited, with the participation of numerous surveillance boats.

So be careful if you go by boat to Menorca. It will not be surprising to receive an administrative sanction if you anchor at pleasure.

What about the videos of people jumping off rocks?

Yes, you may have seen it in a video. There are spots where you can jump and immortalize the moment with a GoPro in these types of coves. So don't forget it at home if you are one of the most daring.

Be careful! Constantly check that there is enough depth to avoid accidents. It seems obvious, but every year there are accidents reported to these fashions.

You can go, of course. Now, we do not recommend it since there is almost no sand, and you will have to be careful all the time.

If you go with children, we recommend other beaches, no less spectacular, such as Binibeca or Punta Prima.

What are the best months to go?

To avoid overcrowding, from MENORCA-PLAYAS, we recommend going in May or June. Then, with a bit of luck, you will have a good time and enjoy es Caló Blanc, all for yourself.

September is also a good month, the island is already emptying of tourists, and although it is riskier due to the weather, we can also enjoy it properly.

If you have to go by force in the middle of summer, let's not worry either. This beach is not yet one of the most crowded in Menorca. So you will enjoy it, and like you; numerous tourists and Menorcans.
