5 Plans for Sa Mesquida, Menorca
Sa Mesquida Beach is close to Mahón , 6 km far away or 10 minutes by car. It's a gorgeous and huge beach, which is not the most frequented except July and August.
Its blue waters deserve a visit if you are near the capital. Its sand is a soft colour that contrasts with the landscape.
Here you have 5 things you cannot miss in Sa Mesquida.
1. Visit the part behind the beach
The area behind Sa Mesquida beach is very humid and flooded in winter. Therefore, there is a wooden walkway that will allow you to cross.
From there, you can reach a beautiful, calmer cove, known as Rinconada de Sa Mesquida. It has no sand, as it is a Macar.
Small flat stones make the cove of a greyish colour. It is a recommended place for snorkelling!
2. Climb to the top of the mountain
It has a mountain called Es Pa Gros; an excellent thing to do is to climb and take a photo of one of the best beaches in Menorca. From its top, there are spectacular views of both the beach and the entire North Menorca.
You should know that the beach becomes partially nudist if you approach Es Pa Gros. Don't be surprised!
3. Trail Cami de Cavalls
As you well know, Menorca has a path that goes around the island. The section from Sa Mesquida to the town of Es Grau is spectacular. There are many slopes, so it's essential to wear good shoes and water.
4. Visit its neighbour
On the road that goes to the beach, there is a detour to Es Murtar. A charming town in Menorca with very few people.
It does not have a beach, but there are many rocky areas where you can jump and dive. Its waters are transparent, and it is another good option if you want to see something near Sa Mesquida.
5. Fish and Seafood in Cap Roig
If you are at midday in Sa Mesquida and you would like to taste Menorca seafood. We recommend visiting Cap Roig Restaurant, which is on the road that goes down to the village.
You will be able to enjoy typical products of the island, such as the lobster stew. In addition, it has exceptional views of the beach and the sea.
Don't forget to book in this restaurant as it used to be always full.
How to get to Sa Mesquida
To arrive at Sa Mesquida, firstly you need to be in Mahón. Once there, you will need to go to the last roundabout of Port de Mahón, then, finally take the detour to La Mola, Sa Mesquida and Cala Llonga.
You will need to continue on the road approximately 4 kilometres and take the junction on the left. You will reach the public parking when you cross the village, 5 minutes on foot to the beach.
